Please, NBC and IOC, Learn How to Share the Olympics

Oh, those Olympic moments. The three-hour opening ceremony was full of them, everything from James Bond escorting the Queen to the stadium (via helicopter and parachute!) to a 10-story-tall Voldemort and giant baby (don?t ask) and, perhaps best of all, the beloved Mr. Bean, a.k.a. Rowan Atkinson, losing himself in a "Chariots of Fire" montage. Spectacular, memorable, viral and mostly, wholly unavailable.

[More from Mashable: James Bond and the Queen Parachute Into the Olympics [VIDEO]]

NBC and the International Olympic Committee have tried to make this one of the most connected, social and widely available Olympics ever. It?s on the web, on my iPad, on your smartphone and running 24/7 on TV. Or so it seems. However from the moment the opening ceremonies kicked off in London Friday afternoon to the not-so-instant replay in the United States some three hours later, something?s been off.

Why, for example, didn?t NBC simply run the ceremonies live in the afternoon (at around 2:30 p.m. ET) and then run it again in the evening instead of trying to pretend that the opening ceremony hadn?t happened yet? NBC and the IOC?s attempt to control the flow of content and information failed almost immediately as participants and audience members started tweeting and Instagramming and, worse yet, at least one website started streaming pristine video live from the event.

[More from Mashable: Get a Bird?s-Eye View of 25 Olympic Stadiums]

Annoying? Yes, but many of us were willing to swallow it and did, in fact, hunker down later that night to watch the opening ceremony rerun.

As one memorable moment after another flickered before our eyes, we began to search for and share memorable moments. The Bond video, we found. It was cute watching the Queen play along as an equally dour-faced Daniel Craig gave his best stoic Bond performance as he led the aging monarch to a live appearance at the stadium in London.

NBC made sure to squeeze dozens of advertisements into the rerun. Again, we were fine with this. At least the spectacle was good and performances like Atkinson?s silly synth player, were viral gold.

SEE ALSO: This Is What the Olympians From 100 Years Ago Looked Like

Because it had been hours since the live performance, multiple versions of the Atkinson segment appeared on YouTube. None of them, though were official. This seemed odd, but Mashable, like other outlets selected the best one to share. Within minutes the video was gone and replaced by this message:

?This video contains content from International Olympic Committee, who has blocked it on copyright grounds.?

Other videos appeared, but soon succumbed to the same fate. It was a digital game of whack-a-mole.

In all this time, no official video from NBC. What were they thinking? Network execs had to know this was a gem and yet they couldn?t offer it.

Here's why it really galls me, though. A major portion of the opening ceremony festivities was devoted to a tribute to?wait for it?the Internet and social networking. It was all about how the Internet connects us and lets us communicate, how social media influences our lives. To illustrate, the IOC used the charming story of a young couple meeting and then using a variety of digital and social media to stay connected. Facebook doesn?t make an appearance, but there is something on screen that looks a bit like it. There was also a lot of dancing, music and even a house party ? with a real house. If the message wasn?t clear enough, the IOC hammered home the message by lifting up the giant house to reveal a lone figure sitting at a computer -- Tim Berners-Lee. The father of the Internet.

Berners-Lee proceeded to type out a live tweet to the world:

Did I say it was live? This tweet went out around the world while a good portion of the world could not see the event. By the time I saw it, Berners was just a digital ghost and his tweet was three hours old. Hours later, that portion of the ceremony was still unavailable on YouTube or any other digital medium.

Ensuring that these videos clips are available to share as soon as possible is in the IOC and NBC?s best interest. If people find the links, they?ll share them on their social networks, building even more buzz for the games and the myriad little human dramas played out within it. If NBC sits on its hands, or the IOC forces it to sit on its hands until hours or days after the viral moments, they pretty much ensure those moments won?t become viral and will have little or no impact on building Olympic-sized engagement.

Something is amiss here. If this is the most connected Olympics ever, then I think there?s been a big disconnect.

Designing or revamping a new home is something that can be both nerve wrecking along with being highly exciting. Often named as a dream paradise, almost all your savings are squandered on designing the same. Be it the exterior of your house or the interior including the paint, textures, furniture or designing the ambiance, every aspect and detailing is given due attention. With considering these points, can you afford to avoid the most essential aspect of your abode?

A question that might be striking in your mind right now is that every aspect has been covered, so what is missing out. An indispensable part of any housing project is the electric panel. For a layman who has no idea about the term at all, it is a huge metal box that consists of fuses and circuit breakers that makes the flow of electricity to the houses or the companies feasible. Quite often it has been compared to a family tree that has branches which are usually the wirings. The working procedure of the panel include the flow of current into the wirings and then into the divisions providing electricity flow in every part of the house

There are other names with which this panel is known and these are :-

  • Circuit breaker panel :- The main function of this panel is to shield your home if there is a doubt or a chance of electric overload. Just in case a situation arises where it is realized that there is overload of the power because of a fault in the wiring or any other reason, the breaker panel will automatically trip that will result in the electric shut down. There can be chances where the electricity of the entire house will be shut off or just few appliances, it would highly depend on the fact that which part of the house is sucking in more energy.
  • Breaker boxes :- A universal procedure to provide your home with additional energy is through breaker boxes. It is however known to be the most complex procedure used till date. Adjoining each and every circuit to breaker box is highly essential since there might be chances where a breaker might have tripped and a particular part or phase of your house is not able to function.

There are also certain aspects that should be kept in mind which indicate when does your amp panel need a revamping. It is significant to keep an idea on these points since these will give you an idea that it is high time you should think about the security of your home and yourselves as well.

Let's give a glance to these points:

  • You should consider changing an electric panel when you are bringing in a bigger entity in your home whether it is a bigger refrigerator or an air conditioner.
  • If you are planning to a new place that has an old panel, it is mandatory for you to swop the older one.
  • Totaling up new facets in your house that includes installation on hot water tub or a power appliance in the same.
  • If you have renovated your home and added up another room or modified your kitchen making it a modern one.

Funeral held for second Colorado victim; judge cracks down on leaks

DENVER (Reuters) - Mourners packed a Denver church on Thursday for the funeral of a 23-year-old woman who was among the 12 people shot to death at a midnight showing of a new "Batman" film, and a judge clamped down on leaks of information about the accused gunman and the investigation.

The private, two-hour memorial for Micayla Medek ended with sobbing family members clustered around her flower-covered coffin, some softly singing "You Are My Sunshine" while others blew kisses after the hearse that bore her body away.

It was the second funeral in as many days for victims of the shooting rampage that ranks among the worst outbursts of U.S. gun violence in recent years.

Nearly a week after the carnage in a movie theater in the Denver suburb of Aurora, authorities have yet to explain why such bloodshed was unleashed.

One clue under examination was a mysterious package that was delivered to the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, where the suspect, James Holmes, 24, had been enrolled as a doctoral student of neuroscience, and was reported to contain a notebook detailing the shooting scenario.

According to a Fox News report, which cited an unnamed law enforcement source close to the investigation, the parcel was addressed to a psychiatrist on the university faculty and included hand-drawn illustrations of the massacre with pictures of stick figures shooting at other stick figures. The psychiatrist was not identified.

Fox News said the parcel containing the notebook arrived at the school on July 12, more than a week before the shooting, but remained unopened until a search of a university mail room on July 23, three days after the crime.

According to Fox, the mail-room search was prompted when the psychiatrist reported receiving a separate package with Holmes' name in the return address.

THE JOKER

The university confirmed in a written statement on Wednesday that a suspicious package was delivered to the campus by mail on Monday, saying that it was "immediately investigated and handed over to authorities within hours."

But the school disputed an element of the Fox News account, denying that a package had sat on a loading dock since July 12. Fox News said on Thursday it stood by the accuracy of its source.

The report about the notebook appeared to have spurred the judge overseeing the case to crack down further against unauthorized disclosures related to the investigation.

In an amended gag order made public on Thursday, Arapahoe County District judge William Sylvester reiterated his previous decree barring law enforcement authorities from "disseminating information that presents a danger to the fairness of a trial in this matter."

"The District Attorney's Office is hereby ordered to immediately serve all law enforcement agencies involved in this case with this order set forth in the court's pre-trial publicity order," Sylvester wrote.

The judge issued a separate order on Thursday, at the request of prosecutors, specifically barring the university from publicly divulging any information about Holmes under Colorado's open-records law.

Formal charges against the suspect, who dyed his hair bright orange and was said by authorities to have referred to himself as the Joker -- Batman's comic book arch-enemy -- are expected to be filed on Monday.

He is accused of opening fire inside a midnight screening of the latest Batman film, "The Dark Knight Rises," at a movie theater in Aurora, killing 12 people and wounding 58.

Holmes was arrested moments after the shooting early Friday morning behind the theater, and was ordered at his initial court hearing on Monday to remain held without bail.

'WE LOVE YOU MICAYLA'

The 1,200-seat New Hope Baptist Church in northeastern Denver was filled to overflowing with mourners attending Medek's funeral. Medek, 23, a community college student who worked at a local Subway fast-food outlet, had gone to the movie with a group of friends.

Many of the mourners wore pink "Hello Kitty" ribbons pinned to their clothing in remembrance of the popular cartoon and merchandising character that was a favorite of Medek's.

At the conclusion of the service, the casket topped with white carnations and pink roses was wheeled out to the front entrance of the church, where family members gathered to greet the coffin. Many wept, crying, "We love you Micayla."

One police officer wiped tears from his eyes as hundreds of mourners stood in the bright sun until the hearse pulled away, some blowing kisses after the vehicle.

Holmes' neighbors in the three-story apartment house where he lived were permitted to begin returning to their homes on Wednesday night for the first time since the building was evacuated on Friday, shortly after the shooting.

Residents were ordered out when Holmes' unit was discovered to have been left booby-trapped with explosives capable of leveling the entire complex had they been detonated.

Japan women 'lose longest-lived title'

Japan's women lost their place as the world's longest-lived in 2011 for the first time in more than 25 years, officials said Thursday, after the quake-tsunami cut female life expectancy by five months.

The Japanese are renowned for their longevity, attributed in part to a healthy traditional diet and active lifestyle.

But the health ministry said deaths from the country's double disaster were a key factor in lowering its calculation of newborn girls' expected lifespan from 86.3 years in 2010 to 85.9.

Japanese women had had the world's longest life expectancy every year since 1985, but the latest figure put them second behind Hong Kong, where women can anticipate living to 86.7, the ministry added.

Spanish women were third at 84.9 years, followed by French at 84.8, it said.

"We can't say Japanese women's life expectancy is on course to decline (longer term) because the East Japan Great Earthquake is seen as a one-time factor," the ministry said.

Japanese men's life expectancy also declined to 79.4 years, it said, putting them in eighth place globally.

A magnitude-9.0 earthquake struck northern Japan on March 11 last year and triggered a massive tsunami as well as the world's worst nuclear accident in a generation, leaving some 19,000 people dead or missing.

6 Dangerous Reasons People Do Not Set Goals and Never ...

Goal-setting is the framework for personal achievement. It is the backbone of becoming a person you desire to be. Setting and achieving personal goals will guarantee you success. Most people who do set goals have little to no understanding of goal-setting and as a result fail to achieve them and never succeed. You would think that if goal-setting was the ultimate skill and secret to success that everyone would develop their own personal goals and learn to achieve them. Unfortunately, the world is not that perfect. There are six dangerous reasons people do not set and achieve their goals which act like a road block to their success.

The first reason I believe why people do not set goals is they do not see its importance. Like people who do not develop their communication and other aspects of themselves, they do not see the importance of setting goals. I have met people who are unbelievably resistant to developing their communication. They have actually found it insulting to think they need to improve how they communicate! Every single person on the face of this Earth can always communicate more effectively and have their life improve as a result. Likewise, with goals there are people who do not see the importance of setting personal goals. Goal-setting forms the foundations for personal achievement and it is of the utmost importance.

The second reason why people do not set goals is a fear of others caused from criticism. People criticize because they see faults in others or are brainwashed by society and other beliefs into thinking greatness cannot be achieved. They criticize to hold people back from achieving goals. Average people do not want others to go beyond average. A person can fear setting goals because each time they have set goals in the past, others have criticized and shot down their dreams. Others impose their own self-limiting beliefs through criticism instilling fear within the person. To bluntly solve this, screw what people think. Screw allowing people to destroy your life with their beliefs. Society is filled with endless garbage to prevent you from achieving your goals. If you want something, go and get it by setting and achieving personal goals.

The third reason why people do not set goals is a fear of failure. They can think success is derived from not failing. The opposite is true. Success comes from failing a lot and failing fast. Famous inventor Thomas Edison said, ?I haven?t failed. I?ve just found 10,000 ways that won?t work.? Being an inventor, Edison understood that failure was apart of success. Failure was the nuts and bolts that constructed his success. Understand that failure occurs and it shows you are taking action. Learn from failure and enjoy knowing you are moving towards your goals instead of fearing to set out after them in the first place.

The fourth reason why people do not set goals is a fear success. People who fear success believe it is bad. The fear is common in wealth and wanting an attractive partner because negative results will occur. They believe wealth is evil or a certain type of partner is unfaithful. The fear prevents them achieving what they want by not laying the foundations of their desire with goal-setting.

The fifth reason why people do not set goals is they do not know how. This reason relates to fear of failure where the person has set goals in the past, but has not achieved them and becomes discouraged from the failure. These people become disheartened from the failure and think failure is imminent. They do not learn from past mistakes and move towards personal growth. There are techniques such as setting SMART achievable goals which I have written about but are not covered in this article. Using SMART goals enables you to set and achieve goals then merely wishing a result based on temporary motivation too common around the new years period.

The sixth reason why people do not set goals is they lack the inner desire to want something greater than what they currently have. For them, the ordinary or even sub-ordinary is sufficient. These people do not believe they can reach or deserve success because society has conditioned them into thinking they are ordinary people and therefore must do ordinary things. It can also be caused by failure, criticism, and other reasons as to why people do not set goals.

Did you find yourself relating to one of these six dangerous reasons people do not set goals and as a result never succeed? Do not fret too much because you are now more self-aware and able to doing something about. All that is required for you to do is learn how to set achievable goals. I personally advise people how to set SMART, achievable goals technique because its congruency with successful goal-setting is spot on. You set specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and tangible goals leading to your success. Master this skill and you will have the most powerful personal development technique in your grasp to achieve success.

17-year-old programs artificial 'brain' that can diagnose breast cancer

";

Google Science Fair grand prize winner Brittany Wenger whom you see on the far right above has joined other winners on stage in their respective age categories, and her place on the podium is thoroughly deserved. After all, she has managed to develop an artificial computer brain which is capable of performing a diagnosis of breast cancer with a 99% sensitivity. Brittany Wenger, aged 17, successfully wrote a breast cancer-diagnosing app that is based on an artificial neural network, leading her to pick up the grand prize at the Google Science Fair a couple of days ago.

What inspired Wenger to make sure her computer brain worked? Well, this is due to the fact that the least invasive diagnostic test for breast cancer, known as ?fine needle aspirate?, is by far and large the least certain one as well, with unclear results popping up often while requiring patients to go through a second biopsy with a bigger needle ? and some other cases even require surgery. Kudos to her for helping make this world a better place!

Warner Bros. plans to move "Gangster Squad" to January

NEW YORK (TheWrap.com) - Warner Bros. is planning to move the release date of "Gangster Squad" from September 7 to January, according to individuals with knowledge of the situation.

Other reports have pegged a specific date - January 11 - but neither our sources nor the studio would confirm that. Nor would the studio confirm whether a scene in which gunmen shoot up a movie theater would remain in the film.

The scene was in the film's trailer - which screened before "Dark Knight Rises" and has been replaced since the Colorado shooting - but has been removed.

The film, directed by Ruben Fleischer and written by Will Beall, stars Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn, Josh Brolin and Emma Stone. It chronicles a coterie of LAPD cops who try to take down Mickey Cohen, a notorious Los Angeles gangster.

Ever since a gunman, suspected to be James Holmes, killed 12 and injured 59 at showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" just past midnight last Thursday night, Warner Bros. has been working around the clock to figure out what to do with "Gangster Squad."

Given the tragedy in Aurora, which also occurred in a theater, individuals close to Warner Bros. have said for a few days the studio would remove the scene from the movie and push its release date both to allow for reshoots and distance the film from the real-life shooting.

A final decision is still pending, but those close to the studio say a decision is imminent - and has been since Monday. Warner Bros. is trying to figure out reshoots given cast members' differing schedules, as well as select the precise date.

AIDS experts: Focus on pregnant women not enough

Chart shows rate of women with HIV/AIDS by selected countries

(AP) ? The AIDS epidemic increasingly is a female one, and women are making the case at the world's largest AIDS meeting that curbing it will require focusing on poverty and violence, not just pregnancy and pills.

Already, women make up half of the world's HIV infections, and adolescent girls are at particular risk in the hardest-hit parts of the world, UNICEF Deputy Executive Director Geeta Rao Gupta told the International AIDS Conference.

Some 4.8 million people ages 15 to 24 are living with HIV, and two-thirds are female. Sexual violence and conditions of poverty that frequently lead to girls leaving school and marrying in their teens ? often to much older men ? for economic security are chief risks in developing countries, she said.

"These adolescent girls and young women, our sisters and daughters, represent an unfinished agenda in the AIDS response," Rao Gupta said.

She echoed what has become a recurring theme of the meeting since Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton declared Monday that gender equity would be crucial to protecting women.

"Women need and deserve a voice in the decisions that affect their lives," Clinton said.

Their stories suggest too few do.

Hellen Amuge of Uganda showed scars on her arm and chest left when rebels in one of that country's wars attacked and raped her. When eventually she was diagnosed with HIV, Amuge said her husband abandoned her and their seven children.

"I'm taking my drugs, that's why you see me healthy like this," she said. But while pills are free through internationally financed AIDS programs, she described how people in her rural area must travel 50 miles to the nearest clinic for their monthly supply. "Getting money for transport is a problem."

In South Sudan, Evelyn Letio Unzi Boki said, "Men don't accept to go for testing," and their often younger, uneducated wives, dependent on them for economic survival, have no recourse.

"Women don't have voices," she said.

Even in the U.S., infections increasingly are concentrated in poor communities. Here, 1 in 4 people living with HIV is female and most are African-American or Hispanic.

The Affordable Care Act is expected to improve treatment for many uninsured Americans with HIV, but a number of states say they may not expand Medicaid services, one key part of that law. A report from the 30 for 30 Campaign, a women's coalition, found those are states with high numbers of HIV-infected women.

Globally, the women with HIV who get the most attention are pregnant, since one of the United Nations' chief goals is nearly eliminating mother-to-child transmission of HIV. The number of babies born with HIV has been dropping steadily for several years as more HIV-infected women receive AIDS drugs during pregnancy and while they're nursing ? 57 percent of them last year, according to the United Nations.

But UNICEF HIV adviser Dr. Chewe Luo called for a shift from focusing just on protecting the baby to treating the mother for her own good. Few countries automatically continue providing those lifesaving drugs for the mom after her baby is weaned, unless her own condition worsens or she gets pregnant again, Luo said.

"Orphaning will continue to increase if we don't actually provide treatment for women," she said.

New guidelines from the World Health Organization encourage countries to start treatment for life for all pregnant women, regardless of how healthy they may appear between pregnancies. Luo praised Malawi as the first low-income country to adopt that strategy and said Botswana, Rwanda, South Africa and Zambia are considering the same change.

UNICEF's Rao Gupta called for innovative solutions to help women and girls protect themselves. She pointed to an experiment in Kenya that pays poor families a few dollars a month to help support AIDS orphans and other vulnerable children. Researchers found teens in those households stayed in school longer rather than quitting to work and reported fewer risky sexual behaviors such as multiple partners and unprotected intercourse ? maybe because they weren't turning to sex for money.

And Serra Sippel of the Center for Health and Gender Equity says too many HIV prevention efforts are missed opportunities for women. Consider: Projects around Africa are pushing male circumcision, which lowers men's risk of heterosexual infection ? but they don't educate those men's wives and girlfriends about the importance of continuing condom use since the protection isn't perfect, Sippel said.

"Women are the blind spot in the AIDS conversation," she said.

'The Jeffersons' star Sherman Hemsley dies at 74

Actor Sherman Hemsley, best known for his role as George Jefferson on "All in the Family" and "The Jeffersons," has died at the age of 74 of natural causes at his home in El Paso, Texas. TMZ initially reported the news; it was later confirmed by People magazine.

Hemsley got his big break on "All in the Family." His character, the wise-cracking George Jefferson, was so popular, that Hemsley was soon given his own spinoff. "The Jeffersons" ran for 11 years and had one of the best, most beloved theme songs in television history. Following the end of the "Jeffersons" run, Helmsley starred in another sitcom, "Amen," in which he played the paternal Deacon Frye.

Hemsley?s role on ?The Jeffersons? was a landmark. As Entertainment Weekly put it, George Jefferson was the ?first black character presented as an arrogant, intolerant bigot -- the black Archie Bunker -- George was also one of TV?s first upper-income blacks, appearing nearly a decade before 'The Cosby Show' began its own long run.?

In a 2003 interview, Hemsley talked about the history of George Jefferson. When he debuted the character on ?All in the Family,? Hemsley said he was told to act ?pompous and feisty.? While he was off-stage waiting to make his very first entrance on ?All in the Family? (already a huge hit), Hemsley said he thought to himself: ?Should I run? What the heck did I get myself into? Do I know my lines??

Such nervousness was understandable. George Jefferson was a high-profile character. Prior to Hemsley?s casting, George had been mentioned on ?All in the Family? many times. However, the character never actually came on stage, a device that built up a kind of mystery around the role. ?I didn?t know if I was going to be laughed at or laughed with,? Hemsley said.

He got his start on Broadway, where he was noticed by legendary TV producer Norman Lear. It was Lear who convinced Hemsley to take the role of George Jefferson. For better or for worse, Hemsley was associated with the role for the rest of his career. The show ran for more than a decade, but wasn?t given a proper send-off when it went off the air. The cast later put on a stage play that wrapped up the different storylines.

In recent years, Hemsley appeared on "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," "The Surreal Life," "Family Guy," and "Tyler Perry's House of Payne." He had no wife or children.

A prototype for a large inflatable heat shield that could one day be used for landing large payloads on Mars was tested successfully on July 23, 2012, surviving a hypersonic speeds through Earth?s atmosphere. The Inflatable Reentry Vehicle Experiment (IRVE-3) traveled at speeds up to 12,231 km/h (7,600 mph) after launching on a sounding rocket from NASA?s Wallops Flight Facility on Wallops Island, Virginia.

IRVE-3 is part of the Hypersonic Inflatable Aerodynamic Decelerator project within the NASA Space Technology Program's Game Changing Development Program.

?We had a really great flight today,? said James Reuther, deputy director of NASA?s Space Technology Program, after the test flight. ?Initial indications are we got good data. Everything performed as well, or better, than expected.

Watch the video from the flight below.

?
IRVE-3 is a cone of uninflated high-tech rings covered by a thermal blanket of layers of heat resistant materials. NASA said the purpose of the IRVE-3 test was to show that a space capsule can use an inflatable outer shell to slow and protect itself as it enters an atmosphere at hypersonic speed during planetary entry and descent, or as it returns to Earth with cargo from the International Space Station. A larger version has been proposed for landing larger payloads on Mars, such as future human missions.

About 6 minutes into today?s flight, as planned, the 680-pound inflatable aeroshell, or heat shield, and its payload separated from the launch vehicle?s 55 cm (22-inch)-diameter nose cone about 450 km (280 miles) over the Atlantic Ocean.

An inflation system pumped nitrogen into the IRVE-3 aeroshell until it expanded to a mushroom shape almost 3 meters (10 feet) in diameter. Then the aeroshell plummeted at hypersonic speeds through Earth?s atmosphere. Engineers in the Wallops control room watched as four onboard cameras confirmed the inflatable shield held its shape despite the force and high heat of reentry. Onboard instruments provided temperature and pressure data. Researchers will study that information to help develop future inflatable heat shield designs.

A Navy crew will attempt to retrieve the aeroshell.

?It?s great to see the initial results indicate we had a successful test of the hypersonic inflatable aerodynamic decelerator,? said James Reuther, deputy director of NASA?s Space Technology Program. ?This demonstration flight goes a long way toward showing the value of these technologies to serve as atmospheric entry heat shields for future space missions.?

IRVE-3 is part of the?Hypersonic Inflatable Aerodynamic Decelerator (HIAD) Project?within the Game Changing Development Program, part of NASA?s Space Technology Program.

Upgrading Your Website To The Ideal Dedicated Web Host | Go ...

If you've been in business awhile online and have seen your business growing by powerful leaps, maybe it's time for you to speculate in a dedicated server. What's a dedicated server? As the name states, it's a server which will host your internet site and your internet site alone. A dedicated server is the final choice in a web hosting for a growing business. If you happen to have a growing business, it is maybe time for a dedicated server.

When you commenced your online web site business, you likely utilised a shared server to host your site. A shared server is smarter when beginning a business because the price of a shared server is significantly less than a dedicated server. I recommend watching my ipage review video to learn more about their service since I use them personally.

A shared server is the ultimate way to start your business online. But if you're like most entrepreneurs, you want to ramp up your business. If you are finding that shoppers are having increasingly problem in accessing your internet site and you would like to have more space, you will decide that it is tie for a dedicated server.

Although it costs substantially more every month to maintain a dedicated server, ultimately, it may end up saving you money when referring to the increased benefits. More space can permit you to expand your forums and also give you shopping carts on your internet site. Most businesses that sell product online find it useful to have a database, such as a shopper cart. This enables a purchaser to pick some items that they would like to buy, go from the website for a bit, return and still see the things in their cart. Promoting studies suggest that a customer who revisits the internet site will often change their mind about buying things they wanted unless they're still lingering in their shopping carts.

In addition to the added space, you can get more bandwidth when you have a dedicated server. The bandwidth amount is what enables the server to direct customers to your website. When sharing bandwidth with other websites, you run the risk of losing possible clients because they are not able to get through the clogged server to your website. The buyer will assume the internet site is into bankruptcy and won't usually try again. In these cases, you lose a customer.

This is why it may be time for a dedicated server. If your business is becoming bigger by big leaps, you don't want to wait till you begin losing customers before you take action. A dedicated server may cost a lot additional money a month and will even have start up costs, but the initial investment will more than pay for itself. The dedicated server will be dedicated entirely to your business. It is a bit like hosting your own website.

Relying on what kind of service, bandwidth and space you are seeking on your new server which will accommodate your website, you'll be able to find either a budget dedicated server or one that is more top flight and offers additional services.

To discover more about the best internet site hosting companies on the market today I strongly recommend you watch my hostmonster review as well as my fatcow reviews today to learn which one is good for you.

Cost effective care and the state of oncology in India

23 Jul 2012The value of cancer care and society Prof Richard Sullivan ? Kings College London, UK

Prof Richard Sullivan talks to ecancer at the 2012 National Cancer Institute Directors Meeting in Lyon about the value of cancer care and society.

?

The framing for value cancer care and society is not soley based on finances, but on the principles of how to deliver care, treatment or diagnostic, equally to all patients.

?

Prof Sullivan stresses that good care must be put into context for all non-communicable diseases in each country, as different countries have different burdens with other diseases.?The proportion of money going into care does not always correlate to the outcomes because organisations framing the policies and their attitudes are just as important as funding.

23 Jul 2012Cost effective care and the state of oncology in IndiaDr Rajendra Badwe ? Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, India

Dr Rajendra Badwe talks to ecancer at the 2012 National Cancer Institute Directors Meeting in Lyon about implementation of standard guidelines and making cancer care more cost effective in India.

?

Guidelines need to translate across borders and be tailored to specific infrastructures. Due to financial difficulties in India, cancer care is made affordable by not using recently developed drugs and investigating further uses of older drugs.

?

Dr Badwe also discusses screening in India and the need for solid guidelines before serious implementation of programmes.?

Dr Paul Ndom talks to ecancer at the 2012 National Cancer Institute Directors Meeting in Lyon about NGO activists, cancer care in Cameroon and the Chemotherapy Solidarity Association (SOCHIMIO).

?

The growing problem of cancer diagnosis in Cameroon, as in other African countries, is the main concern with a lack of facilities and trained staff.

?

Previously, funding was given only to the prevention of infectious disease, but now with the rise of cancer cases, funding for prevention research has begun in Cameroon. In Cameroon, many patients never see a doctor outside of their village and can only be seen by a physician when the can travel to them, making consistent treatment very difficulty.

?

To correct this problem Dr Ndom stress the need for awareness and action on the part of the government and collaboration with other institutes.

Nancy Brinker talks to ecancer.tv about the work her organisation is doing to decrease the level of geographic and economic heterogeneity in cancer treatment standards.

?

The World Breast Cancer Report which was presented at the National Cancer Institute Directors (NCID) meeting in Lyon has uncovered significant disparities between higher income and lower income countries and between rich and poor in high-income countries in all aspects of breast cancer diagnosis, treatment and outcome.

?

Ms Brinker explains that breast cancer is becoming an increasing problem in less economically developed countries and stresses the importance of early detection and the need for more patient support and education.

20 Jul 2012Patient's perspective and regulation of treatmentsJean Mossman ? Cancer Charity Consultant

Jean Mossman talks to ecancer at the 2012 National Cancer Institute Directors Meeting in Lyon about her talk on the importance of the patient?s perspective in cancer care.

?

As the patient receives the treatment, their opinion should be valued; however, the regulatory process between efficacy and safety often creates problems. In some cases, patients with advanced stage cancer will not take safety into consideration as much as efficacy.

?

Very often regulators put too much emphasis on the safety of a drug, which ultimately slows the decision process.

?

Mossman believes that a method needs to be developed that can determine ?the right timing for the right treatment and the right patient?.?

Prof Hilal al Sayer talks to ecancer at the 2012 National Cancer Institute Directors Meeting in Lyon about paediatric palliative care and the opening of the Bayt Abdullah Children?s Hospital in Kuwait.

?

Until recently there has been little or no palliative treatment or hollistic care for children or adult patients in Kuwait.

?

Prof al Sayer began work on creating the Bayt Abdullah Children?s Hospital after a personal experience with a patient and their family. Now the hospital, which opened this year, is one of the largest in the area for palliative care.

?

Treating patients both at the hospital and in their own homes, Prof al Sayer advises doctors on the importance of how to discuss end of life treatment with the family and the need to do so.

20 Jul 2012Cancer prevention and epidemiology in RussiaDr David Zardize ? Russian National Cancer Research Centre, Moscow, Russia

Dr David Zardize talks to ecancer at the 2012 National Cancer Institute Directors Meeting in Lyon about the state of cancer prevention and screening in Russia.

?

On the whole, cancer is declining in Russia, especially smoking and alcohol related cancers. This reduction comes from a large effort to change the public perception of smoking and drinking.

?

In Russia, many people are not aware of the extremely detrimental side effects of drinking and smoking and while the numbers are improving in these preventable cancers, the need for screening and early detection is increasing. Examples of success in screening programmes can be seen in the cytological screening for cervical cancer in Scandinavian countries.

20 Jul 2012The impact of breast cancer in AfricaDr Clement Adebamowo ? Institute of Human Virology, Abuja, Nigeria

Dr Clement Adebamowo talks to ecancer at the 2012 National Cancer Institute Directors Meeting in Lyon about the lack of knowledge and literature on the topic of breast cancer in Africa.

?

Only in the last decade has epidemiological data on breast cancer in Africa been published.?Many cases in African countries present in women around the age of 40, where as cases in more developed countries present around 50 or 60.

?

This disparity has many clinical, social and psychological effects; however, the number of incidences is not higher in Africa. Research also suggest that cultural attitudes towards obesity and smoking need to change.

?

In addition, Dr Adebamowo notes that there is a need to increase the priority of screening and mammography, as well as the creation of regional centres for treatment.

20 Jul 2012Combining the Red Ribbon, HIV, and Pink Ribbon, breast cancer, campaignsBrian Hook ? Pink Ribbon Red Ribbon Partnership

Brian Hook talks to ecancer at the 2012 National Cancer Institute Directors Meeting in Lyon about the launch of the Pink Ribbon Red Ribbon Partnership.

?

The partnership, which was launched in September 2011, aims to use the platform and structures of the Red Ribbon, HIV/AIDS, campaign to screen for women?s cancers.

?

Breast and cervical cancer are both connected to HIV and as many women overcome the difficulties of HIV, they are later dying of cancer.?Hook says that the platform exists with the ability to integrate the screening process for both diseases.

?

After starting in September 2011, the partnership announced the first country where the programme would launch in December. The programme currently operates in Zambia and Botswana with many more to come.

?

Hook also discusses the political, social and economical issues that the partnership aims to tackle in the coming years.

(AP) ? A wildfire raced across 125 square miles of sagebrush and dry grass in southern Idaho in a little more than a day, with strong winds blocking fire crews from keeping it in check.

At one point, firefighters had hopes of containing the 80,000-acre blaze by Sunday evening.

"They had winds today that were kind of making it difficult to get a handle on it," Kyli Gough of the Bureau of Land Management said. "Firefighters continue to work around the clock, but with winds working against them, portions of the fire remain active."

The fast-moving Kinyon Road Fire near Castleford, 20 miles west of Twin Falls was first spotted Saturday afternoon. The wildfire initially threatened a handful of homes near the hamlet of Roseworth, but winds shifted and moved the blaze north.

Despite the fire's size, there were no immediate threats to people or damage to property Sunday night. The blaze was 20 percent contained.

"Structure support was ordered to help protect homes on the west side of the fire by Castleford," she said. "There have still been no reports of structure damage or evacuations."

But conditions improved elsewhere in the West, helping crews gain ground on wildfires in Colorado and Utah.

In fire-ravaged Colorado, Gov. John Hickenlooper said Sunday that cool, wet weather allowed him to lift the statewide fire ban he ordered last month. The governor gave thanks to Mother Nature for "finally giving us some relief" as extreme fire conditions have abated in all of Colorado's 64 counties.

Recent widespread rainfall allowed crews to gain the upper hand on several fires in Colorado, including the two most destructive in state history. The High Park Fire near Fort Collins was under control, while the Waldo Canyon Fire in Colorado Springs was 98 percent contained.

In Utah, cooler temperatures and rain helped firefighters make progress on the state's largest active blaze. The 108,132-acre Clay Springs Fire ? burning in steep, rocky terrain in Millard and Juab counties ? was 91 percent contained Sunday night. Its cause remained under investigation.

In Kane County, the human-caused, 8,200-acre Shingle Fire was 75 percent contained. Evacuation orders remained in effect for Stout Canyon subdivisions and portions of two subdivisions south of Highway 14.

In Carbon County, the lightning-caused 48,397-acre Seeley Fire near Huntington was 47 percent contained Sunday.

In Montana, the state's largest wildfire remained 85 percent contained Sunday, an estimate that was unchanged from late Saturday. Nearly 800 firefighters were working on the Ash Creek Fire about 10 miles east of Lame Deer. That fire was expected to be fully contained by Monday.

Progress that fire crews made on other blazes around the state, including the Horse Creek and Powerline fires west of Colstrip, allowed managers to send more resources to the Taylor Creek Fire southeast of Ashland. That blaze had burned about 94 square miles and was 60 percent contained.

In Washington state, a wildfire burning grass and brush between Entiat and Chelan has increased from 250 to nearly 600 acres. Two helicopters and an air tanker were requested to aid crews working on the fire as it grew Saturday amid hot temperatures and low humidity.

In northern California, fire officials said a wildfire near Highway 395 on the eastern slopes of the Sierra Nevada was 60 percent contained. The Fish Fire had consumed about 1,100 acres west of the highway near the Inyo County community of Big Pine.
